WHAT IS POLISHED EFFECT CEMENT?

Polished effect decorative cement, also known as Beton Ciré in France and the EU, which translates loosely into ''waxed concrete''  In the USA the system is known as Micro-Top,  Micro-Topping or Overlay.

A mixture of lime cement, silica sand or marble powders and a polymer liquid into which colours can added. Providing a tough, waterproof and seamless alternative to tiles for kitchen, bathrooms and wetrooms.

Highly decorative, and available in 30 standard colours, Beton Ciré can also be stained, dyed and stenciled to create bespoke high-end finishes.

Not exceeding a thickness of 2mm the result can be a uniform, varied or marbled colour.
A quick drying, flexible, non toxic product with excellent resistance to abrasion
Defined by their thickness — or lack of it. They are typically applied with a trowel or squeegee but can also be broom finished.

By contrast, self-levellers generally require at least 1/4-inch material and are poured into place. Micro-toppings do not have the flow characteristics or sufficient mass of material to flow and so are not considered self-levelling.
This paper-thin concrete mixture is easy to install and bonds to almost any properly prepared existing surface, including concrete, other overlays, wood , metal, plastic, terrazzo, ceramic, marble and asphalt. They should not be used over gypsym without correct priming.

Micro-toppings can be used on interior and exterior surfaces, residential and office walls and floors, lobbies, retail walls and floors, worktops, decks, patios, ceilings, countertops, showers, masonry, furniture, food concession areas, water parks, sidewalks and driveways.
